Lesson Plan Documentation

What is your objective? For the student to be able to create a game of Frogger. For the student to be able to master the basics in the use of AgentSheet software. For the student to be able to define and demonstrate mastery of the following terms: Computational Thinking Patterns, Collision, Absorb, Generate, Transport, Cursor Control, Action, Agent, Array, Depiction, and Grotto.

What standards will you meet as part of this lesson? ISTE, NGSS, Common Core, etc... Think Computer Science, Math, Literacy, etc The standards that we will incorporate would be the ISTE standards. During the pre-programming stage, we will use opportunities to incorporate English composition skills.

What game will you teach first? We will teach Frogger first with opportunities to add challenges to our students who need extra challenges. If they complete Frogger and the challenges, they can also work on Journey.

What grade(s) will you teach? We will be teaching 7th through 12th, but since this is the first year for all the students we will be using the same lesson plans.

How often do you meet with your class? How many total class periods? We are a homeschool program. The class time will only be 57 minutes per week. So we will meet for 8 57 minute periods for the fall to meet the objectives for learning the Scalabable Game Design using Frogger.

How many students will you teach? We have not received that information yet.

What will the layout of classes look like? For example, Class 1: I will introduce the program, teach class rules, etc. Class 2: Frogger Part I

Class 1: Introduce CTP concepts that are needed for Frogger. Class 2: Create Agents for the 1st part of the game.  Class 3: Create Worksheet with the Road.  Class 4:Create Agent Behaviors for the Frog and for the Road. Class 5:Create the River and associated Agents and place on Worksheet.  Class 6: Create Agent Behaviors for the River, logs, and turtles. Class 7:Debug and peer rivers. Class 8: Presentation to class of Game, Upload to Arcade.

What support materials will you need/use? (Consider curricula materials, technology resources, etc) We will be using the Wiki resources, the many ideas gained from the CS4HS workshop, and Susan Miller's notebook for lesson planning.

How will you integrate it into your existing curriculum? For example, will it replace current lessons, will you swap an existing lesson for a SGD lesson? The students will put on hold their individualized study of Office or Java Programming while we focus on Scalable Game Design.

When do you plan to teach this unit for the first time?

September 24th through November 21 for one day a week for 57 minutes.
