What is your objective?
4th Grade - Have the students master the basics in the use of the AgentSheets software. 5th Grade - Have the students master the basics in the use of the AgentSheets software. 8th Grade - Have the students use the AgentSheets software to create a simulation to represent a social issue.
What standards will you meet as part of this lesson? ISTE, NGSS, Common Core, etc... Think Computer Science, Math, Literacy, etc
4th & 5th Grade = ISTE Standards in my notebook for Frogger, Math Standards and Literacy Standards. 8th Grade = ISTE Standards and CTE STEM and IT Standards.
What game will you teach first?
I will teach Frogger first in all of the classes.
What grade(s) will you teach?
I will teach 4th grade, 5th grade and 8th grade.
How often do you meet with your class? How many total class periods?
4th Grade = 90 min per day for a week, 1 week a month, for the entire school year. 5th Grade = 90 min per day for a week, 1 week a month, for the entire school year. 8th Grade = 55 min per day, 5 days a week, for 1 quarter.
How many students will you teach?
4th Grade = 3 classes of 25 students each 5th Grade = 3 classes of 25 students each 8th Grade = 35 students per class, 1 class each quarter.
What will the layout of classes look like? For example, Class 1: I will introduce the program, teach class rules, etc. Class 2: Frogger Part I
I need time to figure this out for all of my classes.
What support materials will you need/use? (Consider curricula materials, technology resources, etc)
- Make sure Agent Sheets is properly installed on the computers in my lab. (IT already knows to include it on the image.)
- Copy release forms and mail out with back to school packets.
- Add the Scalable Design Website to the COPPA form.
- Decide which handouts to use with the students and what format I want to put them out on. (Paper Handouts or Schology)
- I need to take the time to figure out my standards for the school year.
- I will need to take the time to layout what my classes will look like.
How will you integrate it into your existing curriculum? For example, will it replace current lessons, will you swap an existing lesson for a SGD lesson?
In 4th grade I will use this in place of Scratch. 5th grade is new for me and I get to design the curriculum for this class so I am not replacing anything with this. 8th grade this will be integrated into my Colorado Meth Project unit.
When do you plan to teach this unit for the first time?
I plan to teach this unit for the first time during the 1st quarter. I plan to start in September with 4th grade. It will be in October for 5th grade. I will start with 8th grade in September.
